4. What is Cerakote?
Cerakote is a ceramic based coating that can be applied to various materials or substrates. It is known around the world for its durability, corrosion resistance, chemical resistance and good looks.
5. What are the different types of coatings available?
Cerakote offer a range of coatings, the main three used fall into either H, E and C series. H and E series are oven baked coatings, E being their elite series which are their top of the line coatings regarding durability and chemical resistance. H series are still a great choice which offer far more colours than E series. C series are an ambient cure coating which typically handle far higher temperatures than H and E series. They also offer specialty coatings such as Piston coat and Micro Slick.
6. How long does the coating process take?
The turnaround time depends on the size, complexity of the project and how much other work we have on. Generally, most basic coatings can be completed within 5-10 business days. We’ll provide a more accurate timeframe after reviewing your specific project.
7. Do you offer a variety of colours?
Yes, we have variety of colors and finishes. If you have a particular colour in mind, let us know, and we’ll see what we can do. If we do not have the specific colour you require, we may be able to order it. This will add about two weeks to the turnaround time and we may require a deposit before placing an order.
8. Do you offer any warranties on your coatings?
Yes, we stand by the quality of our work. All our coatings come with a satisfaction guarantee. If there are any issues due to workmanship, we’ll make it right. We typically offer a 3-year workmanship warranty for most things with the exception of items that have bad corrosion or pitting. We may still take these jobs on but pitting often goes beyond what the eye can see and our surface blasting process may not reach microscopic cavities to remove all corrosion.
9. How should I care for my newly coated items?
Cerakoted items do not usually require a lot of care. Oiling the coating can be done but is not necessary as it impervious to oils, lubricants, blood, sweat, skin acids and most solvents. If the coating gets dirty, gently wipe off with a damp cloth. It is advised to keep surfaces that wear lightly oiled, such as the inside of a rifle action or the outside of a bolt. Always ensure un-coated surfaces are kept oiled.
10. Do you accept custom or bulk orders?
Yes, we do! Whether it’s a one-off custom project or a batch of items, we can handle most things. We do have some limitations on the physical size of any one item (approx. 800mm - 1000mm due to our oven and media blaster sizes, so please get in touch to discuss your specific needs.
11. Can I ship my items to you for coating?
Absolutely. We accept shipped items from across the country. Please ensure that all items are safely packaged. We’ll provide shipping instructions and return your items once the coating process is complete. Please be aware some firearms related items may require a Police Mail Order form.
12. How do I get a quote for my project?
You can request a quote by reaching out to us with details about your project. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can with an estimate. Quotes can be a tricky task due to many factors. We might need additional information before providing a quote. For example a used firearm that appears to have never been properly cleaned will take additional time to prepare, whereas a new firearm, set of headers, piston etc. will take less time to clean and prepare.
